Earning a income from helium
Earning a income from helium
There are many writers out there all desperately seeking their lucky break and an opportunity to live off the income generated from their hobby. However is it possible, can you really make a enough money to quit your day job? I think in order to do it you would have to work very hard and be very talented.
One of the more popular websites, Helium has several people who write full time for them. Helium generally has three ways to earn, the marketplace, writing competitions, and off general pageviews.
In the marketplace publishers buy specific articles from $20 right up to $200, so if you were able to write several quality articles per week and have yours selected by the publishers in question you could do very well. However the competition is fierce and I know personally speaking there have been many weeks where I knew nothing about any of the articles advertised. On the other hand many of the writers present on helium thrive on this challenge.
The writing contests are also difficult due to the competition present and over 30 writers can take part in each featured category. The good thing here is that the top 4 earn prizes, with $75 going to the winner, and $25 going to second place. The articles that dont get purchased by publishers and the ones submitted for writing contests are also subject to payment depending on the number of pageviews they receive.
If someone was to have several high paying articles purchased per week and get in one of the top places in the weekly contests then it is possible they could earn enough money through this writing website.

This is good information.
This is good information. Helium is one of the few writing communities I haven't written at. I just haven't had the time? Have you written at hubpages at all?

Yes
I have a few hubs, but spend much more time on squidoo! Keep starting them but never get round to finishing them. What I have noticed is that I am getting far more google pageviews on hubpages. How about you?

Helium Likes to Change the Rules Midstream, I Think
Once I wrote a piece on Associated Content, which I think is the best paying of the PTW programs online, by the way, but I was complaining because the AC writers were criticizing Triond and Helium. I still stand by Triond as a really awesome PTW program, but I am started to think they may have had a point when they knocked Helium. I really don't like their recent changes and I like even less the manner in which they introduced them. Like you, Laura, I have a few Hubs, but Squidoo ROCKS and I really like Qassia and this Xomba, too.
I haven't gotten much up at
I haven't gotten much up at Squidoo yet, but I make a lot more money from Hubpages. There is just a lot more natural traffic there then at Squidoo. Plus with fewer options I seem to manage to get hubs out faster then lenses...I will keep giving Squidoo a little time and hopefully will see more traffic and more money from them, but right now I have a lot going on at Hubpages...
You can check out some of the stuff that I have been doing there if you wish...

I havent had much with hubpages a few cents perhaps! I have read some of your hubs before and they are very good. My hubs do get half decent traffic from google just no clicks!
