Eartha Kitt, Batman's Catwoman, Dies of Colon Cancer

Eartha Kitt, singer, dancer, international symbol of sensuality and elegance, and champion of recognition for African-American entertainers, succumbed today from colon cancer at the age of 81. While she received awards and accolades for her acting and singing, many will remember that she took over for Julie Newmar as "Catwoman" on the campy 1960's television series, Batman.

She will be missed.

small world indeed

I used to make that gorgeous coastal trip from San Francisco south on Highway One as often as I could, to visit Bill's family in Pismo and/or my late mother, who retired to Guadalupe (the home of C. B. De Mille's "The Ten Commandments" movie set, not to mention lots of broccoli.) Bill's mother is currently in an AG assisted living home. I lived in San Diego briefly back in the 70s, but like Oakland, there was no there there, so, as with you, it didn't last.

Catwoman

I was just mentioning to my relatives today that the cheesy old Batman TV show managed to get some very serious and talented people playing guest parts. Besides Kitt, there was Cesar Romero (the Riddler), Burgess Meredith (the Penguin), Tallulah Bankhead, and even Edward G. Robinson.

Small World!

My wife was born and raised here while I've lived up here full-time since 1997. Although, my grandparents have lived in Arroyo Grande since before I was born and my two brothers and I used to come up every summer growing up. When I left the Navy in 1996, I tired quickly of San Diego, so I moved up here. Haven't regretted it one bit! JOIN US IN TOASTING YOUR FUTURE SUCCESS!

She was Madonna before Madonna was Madonna

But better. Just noticed you're from SLO. My husband was born there, grew up in Pismo.
