Easy Kids Craft, Make a Bird Feeder Tree
posted January 2, 2009 - 12:47pmFeeding birds is not something we think too much about in the winter, but just like us, birds eat year around.
A fun and easy kids craft is too make a bird feeder tree. It will keep the kids occupied for awhile and the birds will thank you.
To make a birder feeder tree, just take a cue from the Christmas tree. Pick a tree in your yard and make bird-friendly, edible decorations for it.
Hang suet cakes and dried apple rings from the bird feeder tree. String some popcorn and berries and drape it on the bird feeder tree. Pine cones covered with peanut butter then rolled in bird seeds are a fun kids craft and tasty treat for the birds.
A source of water is very important to birds during the winter months also.
The snow and ice in some parts of the country make it difficult for birds to get to their natural food sources during the winter months. Even in milder climates, the migratory bird influx make natural feeding sources in high demand. So remember to throw your left over bread, cereals and crackers in the yard for the birds to eat.
