Ebay-A Love Hate Relationship

I have been an ebay seller for eight years and I have learned so much during this time. I have gone from having hundreds of feedback to being suspended for being related to my step-mother-in-law who was also an ebay seller that got suspended. After fighting ebay and even going to the local news to complain about it I was finally allowed back onto ebay. I now sell for other people and have found that their rules do need some improving. For example if you are related to another user by having the same last name and that user gets suspended for any reason you can also be suspended just for knowing this person. I had to fax a copy of my ID and a utility bill just to prove that I was me. My step-mother-in-law had been suspended for selling items in the wrong area but when that happened they accused me of being her. There is also posative things with ebay like making money and having fun. I love selling on ebay and it does help me make a few extra dollars. You will not just become rich overnight though and their is no such thing as an easy buck. It has taken me years to know what items to sell and I mostly sell books but all most anything will sell on ebay including toast. My advice is learn the ropes and hit the yard sales, its fun and you can make money.

I am both a seller and buyer, I did try Yahoo auctions and got no sales there or on Bidville. I tried the O or Overstock.com and had somewhat better results there for awhile but your competing with Overstock itself there and sales were so so. Ebay lately I have been more a buyer than a seller. But trying to sell some things. I might list 20 things and only 3 sell. Other times 7-10 sell. There are slumps and down times and other times things pick up. You do have your good and your bad, feedback is important to give and to recieve. Shipping carefully and well is imparitive. Insurance is necessary for higher priced items or breakables. right now I have about 11 items trying to sell 1 is selling and it is not enough for even my fees. But often it seems nothing is going to sell then the last few minutes I get bidders. I have picked up 25 cent items at yard sales and sold them for $65 or $100.00. Other times things that should have sold I get no bid at all. It is annoying, and it is fun and challenging.

Some fee's have gone up but it did not stop me from selling. I mean if alot of people quit selling then that to me means my items will sell better. You should give it a try. You can start some items at .99 cents and then the fee that ebay charges is only .20 cents. Things sell better if you can start them out lower. Their store fees did go up but only people with store like items usualy sell in ebay stores. Check out my auctions if you like. Have you tried other online auctions?

I've thought of starting to sell on eBay but have heard some long-time sellers had left because the company increased their fees or something. Have you had any experience selling on other online auctions or marketplaces? I wonder if their terms are any better for sellers.
