Election Day November 2009

The Election Day happens on the Tuesday following the First Monday in November. This happens every four years. Voters who are registered can cast their votes on Election Day. The votes cast by these registered voters are for presidential electors. These are the electors that make up the Electoral College.< p>

Each state in the United States has a different number of electors. The number is based on the number in the Congressional delegation. So most of the states have at least 3 electors. Some states have more. It is these electors who will come together on the Tuesday following the second Wednesday in December. Their job is to elect the President of the United States and the Vice President of the United States.
