Electric bill savings
posted January 6, 2009 - 11:04amI know this could be boring, but I also know that the bills keep on coming in, and they keep on going up. I do try to be a little bit green to save the planet and all that, but how about trying to save some utility bill money at the same time?
Turn off the lights when you leave a room. By also turning off electrical devices when they are not in use you can further save on your electric bill. Computers, printers, modems, satellite dishes, VCR’s, TV’s, and other electronic devices use electricity even when they are switched off.
And unplug them from the outlet; they still use electricity if you don’t!
Is it possible to only use one computer or one fridge/freezer? If you can, reduce the number of computers & appliances that you have.
You have thermostats – use them! But you would be amazed how many people override the programs when they do not need to!
When you are washing clothes and the dishes, only use the washer, dryer and dishwasher when you have a full load! And how about trying to wash your dishes by hand?
Possibly try to wash your clothes in cold water? Works a dream if you use a high lather wash powder! I was taught that one here in South East Asia!
Finally, you can save on your utilities bill further if you shorten your shower/bath time by a couple of minutes!
