Elizabeth Lambert Suspended Indefinitely from New Mexico Women's Soccer - VIDEO
posted November 6, 2009 - 9:20pmJunior soccer player Elizabeth Lambert has been suspended indefinitely from the University of New Mexico women's soccer team for her rough play in a game yesterday, coach Kit Vela announced today. Lambert was involved in a number of rough events during a game against Brigham Young; you can see the Elizabeth Lambert rough play video here.
In the most egregious incident, Lambert is standing behind a BYU player and grabs her ponytail hard, causing the player to fall to the ground. In other plays Lambert punches an opposing player in the back after receiving an elbow to the ribs; trips different players while not playing the ball; and gives a player a forearm to the face.
Lambert, a 5'8" junior from California, issued an apology for her actions. Although Lambert is still listed on the University of New Mexico women's soccer roster, the name of her hometown and high school do not appear--the only player on the team for which this information does not appear. Is it possible that the University removed this information to prevent Lambert's school or town from receiving hate mail?
