Elusive Sleep of a Chronic Insomniac

Elusive Sleep of a Chronic Insomniac

A year ago I went to bed at 10:00 p.m

Now I am awake until after midnight.

Is it life and stress or age and getting older?

I hurt more and sleep does not come as easy.

Sleep when I get it is sweet but often short,

Some days I wonder if I slept at all.

Is this part of getting older? Is it because

It is quieter and I have the house quiet now?

I don't know but I know things have changed,

and probably will again. But now I am going to

try and get some sleep. But not until I read a

few pages in my novel, can't sleep unless I read first.

Then if the room is too warm open the window and let;

In the frosty autumn chill for a few minutes,

Fluff my pillows and arrange the covers just so.

Sleep eludes me, So I get up and run a nearly all hot water

Bath and relax, ah that helps it eases the arthritic pain

of knee, hips and feet. My Muscles hurt Fibro is acting up.

I try it again. Hubby is sleeping next to me, how does he do it?

Just falls asleep so easy? There he goes a buzz saw, read some more, His snoring is becoming loud like a freight train.

He might taper off if I nudge him. I do and he rolls over the snoring lessens just a bit for awhile.

He didn't used to snore like that.

Now a tickle in my throat, get up an make a hot cup of tea

Sit at the computer and read xomba and gather articles or email or play some games.

Sip the tea. Hubby's snoring has stopped, maybe now

I can get some sleep. I read fifteen minutes, eyes get droopy

It is 2:38 a.m

At last I am able to turn off the light and sleep for an hour

or two maybe even four and sometimes five. If the cat didn't sneak into my room again and hide out somewhere and whine to be let out at 4:30 a.m.

Drifting offffffffffffff..........................
