Email Marketing - Words to Avoid in the SUBJECT Line
posted September 19, 2007 - 3:55amI have changed the subject line of my free email newsletter from "Monthly Success Update..." to "MSU Report..." since one Internet access provider started to blacklist the delivery due to the word "success".
Although there have not been any spam complaints from my individual readers since the inception of this newsletter, some web hosting companies apparently assume that any e-mail package with the word "success" in its SUBJECT line must be spam.
Other words that you should avoid in your SUBJECT line to prevent getting axed by similar spam filters:
"!!!" (any multiple exclamation points), "Free," "Unique," "Now," "Millions," "Excitement," "Exciting," "Congratulations," "Winner," "You Have Won," "Lottery," and "Notification."
