Everybody Has a Story to Tell

Everybody Has a Story to Tell

When starting to write articles for the first time, conventional wisdom will tell you "Go with what you know". Unless are in a coma presently, you got up this morning, answered Nature's call, brushed your teeth, ate some breakfast, made the beds, did some laundry, went to work, did your job until lunch, ate lunch, restarted work, knocked off, maybe went to the bar to have a couple of beers, ate dinner, brushed your teeth again, changed into your pajamas, and went to bed. Maybe not in that order, but the point is, you did something today.

Even beyond just today, you were born somewhere. You grew up somewhere. You went to school and graduated from somewhere. You have parents, maybe some brothers and sisters, maybe you even got married. You live somewhere and have lived somewhere previously, even if you are in the same small town. Maybe you are in the military or are a veteran, which means you went to boot camp and school and traveled a bit.

Do you have pets? Do you go to the movies or watch television? Do you read the newspaper or get news online? Do you have a favorite sports team or any hobbies? What's your favorite color or food?

I don't care who you are or where you're from--you did something interesting today and can write about it. When you get writer's block and are just staring at your computer screen for what seems like an excruciatingly long time, just remember what you did today and write about that. It doesn't have to be Shakespeare's sonnets or as deep as Nietzsche's philosophy; that's not what's important.

What is important is that you realize that everybody has a story to tell. I would like to hear it.

I love this article

With me the more I write the more ideas I get about how I want to write an article. I try different things; most work out well, some do not. But, the one that do not usually give me ideas to try something different. I also like to write with my moods. I can be in a funky mood and out of that funk comes an article like the Dandelion War. Just keep writing, the more I write the easier it is to write. For more articles by this author click here

We do what we can, Celanith

Even though I've been here for almost two years now, I have been far from consistent in posting new articles. Some days, all I've been able to do is come here and read, maybe post a few comments. What draws me to Xomba is a sense of community and there are some people here that are more like a virtual family for me. Thanks for your comment! CLICK HERE TO JOIN XOMBA TODAY!

This friend talks to me about Xomba all the time but seems to be 'stuck' getting off to a good start. I think your article is just what is needed to get them going. Thank you for posting this. My problem is finding the time

Celanith When I joined Xomba and some other sites I had time but the last couple of years I have not had nearly as much time as I would like. Many factors contribute to not having enough time. Babysitting and helping homeschool six of my twelve so far grandkids. General daily housework and responsibilty everyone deals with. Weather taking down the satellite connection, health, legal problems, just to name a few. But I do try and get on as often as possible. More lately than I did for awhile. I am full of thoughts, ideas, stories, poetry and more. BTW my favorite color is red. I love that bright vibrant warm color.

Hello everyone, stop and set awhile.
