Evolution, Innovation Or Sheer Laziness
posted September 8, 2008 - 11:40amThe early humans or rather the pre-human humans, alright baboons, were quite capable by themselves. They could run, jump, climb trees and even swing across trees. They were also having sex, by the way. Most of all they were self-sufficient and not really dependent on anyone or anything else.
Most of the history and the theory of evolution would have us believe that right from the prehistoric days the homo sapien has been very smart and innovative. He discovered fire and invented the wheel, domesticated animals, etc. The fact is if one looks at it seriously all through the journey the man has only been making life easy for himself. Every thing the humans have done is just for convenience and nothing else.
The fire, i am sure the humans were equally scared of it in the beginning, helped him keep the other animals at bay, gave him warmth and also made the meat softer to eat. See, convenience. As a result, he lost his hair and lost the sharpness of his canines.
Carrying the loads was also getting cumbersome, so man invented a wheel and slowly lost his load carrying capacity. ( These days we have a sporting event to see who can lift the maximum weight )
If messing up his own body and capabilities was not enough he domesticated animals and ruined them also. Till now the poor things are dependent on humans to provide them a living.
The man was not to be stopped there. Under the garb of increasing efficiency the poor sod just kept on making himself more and more dependent on other things and people. Spears, fishing rods, Light bulb, automobiles, trains, ships, airlines, telephone, radio, TV, Internet, the list goes on. These are things that have now become a necessity for us. The early man was doing just fine without these. Just that now we can't do without these because our ancestors have passed on the "evolutionary genes" totally incapable of hardships, to us.
Imagine the level we have all gone down to. We can't even entertain ourselves these days. We need someone else to entertain us. Even the friends and family members can't be relied upon. So we depend on a book or the radio or television to keep us entertained. The height of laziness we need a remote to change the channel on the TV which is just a few feet away.
Are we really evolving? As an animal on this earth i think we have lost almost all our capabilities. Instead of being a natural evolution catering to the changes in the environment our evolution has more to do with sheer laziness of mankind from day one. Making rules and setting standards for his convenience.
What have we made of this life? Feed from a bottle, ride a pram, have pacifiers, brush the teeth, use soap, wear clothes, study for so many long years, find a job, buy a vehicle, learn etiquette, have haircut, shave the beard, the legs and i don't know whatever, buy a house, get married and the list goes on. Wow! This sure is a complicated life.
What a wonderful life the baboon must be having right now?
