Ex-NFL Quarterback Steve McNair Shot to Death in Nashville

Former NFL quarterback Steve McNair has been shot to death in Nashville, Tennessee. A female was also found dead in what is apparently a double killing.

McNair and the woman, who is said to be McNair's girlfriend, were found dead at an apartment complex at Second Avenue South at Lea Avenue in downtown Nashville. Sources have said that she has a condo in the complex.

McNair played for the Houston Oilers/Tennessee Titans, and the Baltimore Ravens, leading the Titans to the Super Bowl in 2000. He retired in 2008.

Steve McNair was 36 years old.

Tennessee Titans owner Bud Adams, Jr. issued a statement on behalf of the team saying that it was "saddened and shocked" by the news, adding, "He was one of the finest players to play for our organization and one of the most beloved players by our fans."

RIP Steve McNair

He was a great athlete, and a good, well-liked guy, too--something you can't say about all pro athletes these days. From what CNN just say McNair was shot multiple times, the woman once... and it sounds like the police are not actively seeking a suspect. Sounds like a murder-suicide, though what the nature of the incident is hasn't been determined.

Sad

As a Jaguars fan I got to see McNair every year in the late 90s. His Titans also defeated us in the 1999 AFC Championship Game which was by far the team's most disappointing lost in franchise history. He was a great player in his time and it is sad to see him pass so soon. Especially considering the circumstances of his death.

Yeah, this is awful. He was a much-loved guy, a big favorite in the community. I'm curious to know what exactly happened here.

Damn!
