Exercise & Fitness, Think Outside The Gym
posted October 13, 2008 - 11:26amWe want to stay fit or get fit. We know that exercise is the only way to achieve this goal, yet the gym is so boring. You can create an exercise and fitness routine out of almost any activity if you think outside the gym.
Exercise can be done
in more ways than just driving to the gym and doing leg lifts and squats. A fitness routine can be much more than riding a stationary bicycle or walking a tread mill.
We know we can incorporate a little exercise into our daily routines by parking in the parking space farthest away from a building or by taking the stairs instead of the elevator. Think outside the gym and intentionally plan out door activities that provide exercise and can become a part of your fitness routine.
Plan things for evenings and weekends that will get you up and out, mix it up so you won't fall into another boring exercise routine like going to the gym.
Plant a garden, get a dog and walk it, play ball with kids, go for a hike in the mountains, take a dance class, etc. Anything activity that gets you motivated and moving, that's the key to fitness. Exercise does not have to take place inside of a gym to be effective.
