This is a link to the University of Alberta's DCA website. DCA is a compound that has been used for years to treat children with mitochondrial diseases, and therefore, can't be patented. Pharmaceutical companies can't make money off of it as a treatment without a patent, so none of them are willing to fund the clinical trials in humans and they have had to rely on public donations. DCA has proven effective in treating most forms of cancer in mice, leading to regression of of lung, breast and brain tumors.
