New York Fashion Week for fall 2008 collections is over and now we move on to talking about the trends we have seen on the runways for your fall fashion trends. Among these top designer fashion trends is the sleeveless jacket.

We saw many of New York’s top fashion designers send sleeveless jackets down the runway for fall 2008 ready to wear looks. 3.1 Phillip Lim showed it over a floral dress and cinched at the waist with a belt, BCBG Max Azria showed it cinched at the waist with a belt and Calvin Klein showed a more masculine look with the sleeveless jacket, showing it as a box shape suit jacket pairing it with tight black full length leggings and a tight shirt underneath. Derek Lam is one of my favorites for this trend giving it an ultra glamorous look with a fur collar and cinched with a belt at the waist. Diane von Furstenberg is also one of my favorites keeping it super girly by pairing a red sleeveless jacket with a hot pink dress. Although Diane von Furstenberg did also use a belt, she kept the jacket open to show off the girly dress underneath. Smart move!

I really like this trend because there are so many ways to wear it. I think this one is a keeper, meaning I believe this one will hold weight this season. I believe we will see many sleeveless jackets strutting the streets instead of the runways for fall. And as long as it’s not too cold, I think the way Diane von Furstenberg did it is super hot and perfect for those Indian summer days.
