Family Vacation to Plimoth Plantation

Take your family on a trip to learn about America’s origins. Plimoth Plantation is a great fun and educational vacation option for your family.

Plimoth Plantation offers visitors the opportunity to step back in time. Guides and docents in traditional costume share stories of the way of life on the plantation in the 1600s. Visitors to the plantation learn about the lives of the Colonists and the Native American Wampanoag people.

Exhibits, programs and the live interpretations help visitors learn what life was like in 1627 New England. Historic villages have been recreated and visitors can even board a replica of the Mayflower sailing ship. The plantation crafts center features artisans making pottery, wood and metal working even the clothing that would be worn and used by the people of the time.

The Nye Barn on the plantation features heritage breeds of animals. These animals, once common, are rarely found in modern livestock herds. Visitors learn the importance of animal conservation.

Dine at the plantation on fare that would be served in the 17th Century in the Patuxet Café or settle for a hamburger. An authentic beer that would have been drunk during colonial times is also available, brewed by the Boston Brewing Company the makers of Samuel Adams.

Plimouth Plantation is accessible by public transit from Boston or visitors may rent a car. The plantation is about 40 miles from Boston and about 20 miles from Cape Cod.
