"Abmox, don’t forget the bottle of suntan lotion”, I say as we race out the door.

Our plane had landed an hour ago on the island of Maui, and we had already checked into our luxury hotel. And now we are off to the beach, to begin the two weeks of our summer vacation.

Abmox and I run onto the beach. The sand is a golden yellow color, almost the color of the sun. We jump into the clear blue water and swim together through the crashing waves.
We get out of the water and get ready lay on the beach, soak up the rays of the Maui sun and enjoy our summer vacation together.

“Abmox, do you need to put on some suntan lotion? I brought a big bottle, enough for both of us. But I wasn’t sure if you needed it.”
“Yes, my purple skin will sunburn and turn red just like yours would. ”

Since there are over fifty beaches on Maui, we visit a different beach every day. Abmox is fascinated by the varying colors of the sand, a different color on almost every beach, from bright red to jet black to snow white. Abmox is, however, a little disappointed that we didn’t see any purple sand.

Besides swimming, we find many other activities to enjoy on Maui and the surrounding islands. We go snorkeling and enjoy watching all the different species of fish and marine life. We bicycle around Maui on a coastal road, viewing the incredible scenery that the island had to offer. We even hike into a rainforest.

We are invited to a luau sponsored by our hotel. We enjoy the cooked pig, poi and other Hawaiian specialties, the music and the hula dancing.

At night we walk along the beach, to collect sea shells, search for purple sand and watch the stars. Abmox names one of the stars BrightStar.

Eventually our summer vacation on the island of Maui had to come to an end. Reluctantly, Abmox and I get on the plane to travel back home, me, back to my house in Atlanta, and Abmox, back to his virtual image on my computer screen.

My eyes open and I struggle to awaken. Getting up, I stumble on something on the floor and look down to see an empty bottle of suntan lotion.

“Abmox, are you here?”……….
