Fat Burning Foods

Vitamin CVitamin C

Each one of the following foods is clinically proven to promote weight loss. These foods go a step beyond simply adding no fat to your system – they possess special
properties that add zip to your system and help your body melt away unhealthy pounds. These incredible foods can suppress your appetite for junk food and keep
your body running smoothly with clean fuel and efficient energy.

You can include these foods in any sensible weight-loss plan. They give your body the extra metabolic kick that it needs to shave off weight quickly. A sensible weight loss plan calls for no fewer that 1,200 calories per day. But Dr.
Charles Klein recommends consuming more that that, if you can believe it – 1,500 to 1,800 calories per day. He says you will still lose weight quite effectively at that intake
level without endangering your health.

Hunger is satisfied more completely by filling the stomach. Ounce for ounce, the foods listed below accomplish that better than any others. At the same time, they’re
rich in nutrients and possess special fat-melting talents.

Apples

These marvels of nature deserve their reputation for keeping the doctor away when you eat one a day. And now, it seems, they can help you melt the fat away, too.
First of all, they elevate your blood glucose (sugar) levels in a safe, gentle manner and keep them up longer than most foods. The practical effect of this is to leave you
feeling satisfied longer, say researchers.

Secondly, they’re one of the richest sources of soluble fiber in the supermarket. This type of fiber prevents hunger pangs by guarding against dangerous swings or drops in
your blood sugar level, says Dr. James Anderson of the University of Kentucky’s School of Medicine.
An average size apple provides only 81 calories and has no sodium, saturated fat or cholesterol. You’ll also get the added health benefits of lowering the level of
cholesterol already in your blood as well as lowering your blood pressure.

Whole Grain Bread

You needn’t dread bread. It’s the butter, margarine or cream cheese you put on it that’s fattening, not the bread itself. We’ll say this as often as needed – fat is fattening.
If you don’t believe that, ponder this – a gram of carbohydrate has four calories, a gram of protein four, and a gram of fat nine. So which of these is really fattening?
Bread, a natural source of fiber and complex carbohydrates, is okay for dieting. Norwegian scientist Dr. Bjarne Jacobsen found that people who eat less than two slices
of bread daily weigh about 11 pounds more that those who eat a lot of bread. Studies at Michigan State University show some bread actually reduce the appetite.
Researchers compared white bread to dark, high-fiber bread and found that students who ate 12 slices a day of the dark, high-fiber bread felt less hunger on a daily basis
and lost five pounds in two months. Others who ate white bread were hungrier, ate more fattening foods and lost no weight during this time. So the key is eating dark, rich, high-fiber breads such as pumpernickel, whole wheat,
mixed grain, oatmeal and others.

Grapefruit

There’s good reason for this traditional diet food to be a regular part of your diet. It helps dissolve fat and cholesterol, according to Dr. James Cerd of the University of
Florida. An average sized grapefruit has 74 calories, delivers a whopping 15 grams of pectin (the special fiber linked to lowering cholesterol and fat), is high in vitamin C
and potassium and is free of fat and sodium.
It’s rich in natural galacturonic acid, which adds to its potency as a fat and cholesterol fighter. The additional benefit here is assistance in the battle against arteriosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) and the development of heart disease. Try sprinkling it with
cinnamon rather than sugar to take away some of the tart taste.

Aerobics Are Good Too, as I Learned from the Womb

No; I know you're envisioning a giant preggo bouncing around, but my blesséd mother wasn't doing aerobic exercises past the first half of the second trimester! But she did do them everyday she could when she got home! And she did it to the beat of Firm Believer, a tape of `80's Gospel Music backing up some superfine aerobics instructors. Now whenever I hear Amy Grant (the former-Mrs. Vince Gill), my heart goes into 'anaerobic palpitations' (errrr somethin` ... ya know, smartie-doctorin`-talk fer 'ba-boom-ba-boom-ba-boom' lol). Fall-in` in-and-out of love-- with you ... Fall-in` in-and-out of love-- with you ... Not ex-act-ly sure what I should do. I keep .. By All Means

By all means exercise...i wouldn't suggest to anyone just eating the right foods is enough..wouldn't want anyone to turn into a lazy bum....walking is a great place to start for exercise especially for beginners. http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b http://www.xomba.com/user/adrienne http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b

Burn Your Own Fat ... ExErCise

I know these foods burn off much more-easily, and I join the choirs of angels in their song of praise to Adrienne; but I also remind people that following Adrienne's eating-advice doesn't entirely alleviate you of the need for exercise! Disagree? Join Here, Be Heard!

burn the fat

That is true there is a ton of info out there when it comes to dieting, and burning calories. I am aware how to check food labels, but maybe others arent proficient in this area, that being said your comment is certainly valuable to those who may be unaware of how to do so. http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b http://www.xomba.com/user/adrienne http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b

Fat burning

Yes, you mentioned whole grain, but you also mentioned pumpernickel and other 'dark breads,' which are not necessarily whole grain. The best thing is to look on the bread package and see if it says "whole grain" or "whole wheat" in the ingredients. Breads can be brown because of molasses or other ingredients, but still be made from refined flour. I wasn't accusing you of posting 'wily-nily,' just questioning whether these foods, while good nutritional choices, really help "burn fat." There's a lot of dietary advice out there and much of it is not accurate or makes claims that aren't really backed up... especially regarding foods or diets that supposedly burn fat, help people lose weight, etc. That's all. In fact, I was only making two points: that 'dark breads' aren't necessarily whole grain, and that a person taking medication should check with a doctor if they want to eat grapefruit regularly.

yes-burn fat

actually I did say whole grain breads, according to the research I found these are fat burning foods, just to ease your curiousty idle, I don't just post wily nily without fact checking first. http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b http://www.xomba.com/user/adrienne http://www.xomba.com/referral/7778de9b

Fat burning foods

I don't know if any of these foods actually "burn fat," but most of them can be part of a good diet. A couple of points: * Bread: Stick with whole grain breads; they have lots of fiber (which make you feel full) but more importantly have complex carbohydrates that introduce sugars into your bloodstream slowly. Bread that isn't whole grain isn't that good for: it is full of simple carbs, which turn into a sugar as soon as they hit the saliva in your mouth, and can raise your blood sugar levels quickly. Note: Pumpernickel, rye, etc. are not whole grain breads, even though they are dark; they are still full of simple carbs. Skip them and eat whole grain bread instead. * Grapefruit: If you take any medications, check with your doctor before eating it--there are components of grapefruit that can interfere with the way a number of drugs work. Some of the interactions can be dangerous.
