Fear! Just in time for November elections!

Fear! Just in time for November elections!

This is more fear mongering from the Bush Administration. The timing of this latest terrorist plot and “raising of the color-code fear meter.”

And all news organization including NPR, are drawing comparisons to 9-1-1…go figure: the media are the administration’s lap dogs when it comes to this so called war on Terror. The media seems to follow the Administration: lock, stock and barrel rather do what it is supposed to do, provide information to the public objectively and as tough questions.

Let’s go back and look all the past elections since 9-1-1: the “terror” level, that color coded chart that lets us know when it’s supposedly safe to go outside or not, has always been raised because, the current administration would like us, the US population to believe: ‘terrorist are hiding behind every corner in order to disrupt the democratic process.’ Sure they are, so now we can’t have a fear-free election anymore: at least under the Shrub’s watch!

Now, what happened in Connecticut Tuesday? The pro-war candidate Joe Lieberman lost to the to the anti-war Ed Lamont…and who comes out swinging…for the pro-Dubya, pro-war and pro-Israel-no-matter-what-Israel-does Lieberman? The Administration! Yes that’s right! Rove must have caught some of that “Joe-mentum.”

Tony Snow, all but said, a vote for Lamont was a vote for the terrorists…same game plan the GOP used in the 2004 presidential election…fear…damn it! You vote against this administration and the ‘War on terror’ (which…BTW…is a war on OUR civil liberties) you’re going die in terrorist attack! Therefore vote against your self-interests…unless that is you’re a billionaire…but then this administration has ALWAYS been the administration of the ultra-rich! Remember that scene in the Michael Moore movie where Bush was speaking to all those rich people in nice white tuxedos…and called them his “base.”

What did Snow say?

“And to walk away from that vow [stay the course in Iraq] would send not only a sign of weakness, but also of American unreliability, and it would enable forces of oppression and totalitarianism [i.e. terrorists, Islamo-fascists, etc…] to rise again within Iraq and elsewhere [i.e. her on American soil].” – Tony Snow…[My own words]

Regardless of what this Administration of war criminals says: the Connecticut primary was referendum on its policies and Connecticut is not all that blue of a state. Connecticut is blue, but there are states that are a hell of lot more blue. So, the administration felt it needed to act the only way it knew it could gain some political brownie point with the people: FEAR!

A phone call to the Shrub’s marionette, Tony Blair and we have a bunch of suspects served up to us, the public, just in time to reinforce the notion: that Democrats who want out of Iraq and feel we, as a Nation, are moving in the wrong direction are dangerous. The GOP and Bush did this at a time when it could have the most political impact.

I ask where are these supposed “liquid explosives?” They have yet to be discovered and as far the suspects are concerned they have been under surveillance for a while.

Why bring them down when we did? Especially, since the Brits wanted to wait in order to gather more evidence against the conspirators. The Brits may not have enough to hold them.

Why immediately start drawing parallels to 9-1-1?

It’s simple: let the people know that they are still a terrorist target, keep the people in fear and start up the propaganda machine, full steam for November!

Essentially, Rove, Bush and the GOP want to convey the message that voting Democratic means you will die and voting for Republicans means you will be saved!

Scientific studies have shown that when people are forced to think about their own mortality they will polarize and become more aggressive towards groups that they do NOT identify with.

What happens is that if you have a group, I’ll call them Americans and they are being forced to think about they themselves, as individuals, dying; they will become more aggressive (war-like) against un-like groups (i.e. non-Americans). Additionally, the Americans (in this case) will rally behind the party waiving the flag most ostentatiously (those calling themselves ‘more American or appearing more patriotic’) in this case the GOP! The GOP has done a spectacular job of capitalizing on this phenomenon and thus keeping the American people in fear based reaction cycle to coincide with the election cycle.

The Administration is scared people have had enough of their CRAP! So they are now trying to literally put the fear of death back into the populous, the current members of this administration are using psychological warfare on the very people they are claiming to be protecting.

Keep in mind this famous quote: “They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.” –Ben Franklin

A president with great vision?

I highly disagree with your comment that he will be remembered as a president with great vision? Highly disagree. Maybe he will be remembered as having had a singular vision, but the word great does not apply. And as for Clinton. Nothing he does is unplanned. He has one of the greates political minds in recent memory. He knew exaclty what he was doing--and that was bringing attention to the current administration's mishandling of international relations on practically every front.

Though I don't agree with you, your posting was well thought

Even though I don't agree with you, your posting was well thought out and your opinion/posting clearly organized. I voted for you a high number on that basis. We need people who can write their thoughts succintly and make their point.

wildfire huh?

Iran had an elected leader a while back, but the US replaced him with the Shah. And what about Hamas being elected by the Palestinians? That was democracy in the middle east, but shrub wasn't very happy about that. As for Clinton's behavior on Fox-Righteous Indignation baby.

Clinton looked like Captain Queeg in Wallace interview

Talk about losing control of yourself. I did'nt think Clinton tore a new one for Wallace at all. Rather I had images of Captain Queeg without his nerve relaxing marbles safely in his palm. Ole Billy boy was just smarting over " Countdown to 9 / 11 " . What he left Bush with was a failed policy on terrorism which was so lax that they even allowed Bin Laden to go free when Sudan had him in custody. Yeah I know they tried to put their spin on it with a feeble memo that tried to blame Condi but come on ! Clinton was an ostrich! Bush will be judged by history as a President with great vision, the President who sowed the seeds of democracy in the Middle East. As the former Soviet bloc countries turned to democracy like dominoes so will the likes of Syria, Iran, Saudi Arabia. Just wait and see. Democracy spreads like wildfire and as Americans, nobody knows this better than us.

Shrub buried his head, not Slick Willie.

I take issue with your comment that Clinton "bury our heads in the sand" (burried his head), but I realize you may have posted your thread before Clinton tore Wallace a new one on Fox. Many accounts have now surfaced that Clinton was on to al Qaida & left the Bush administration his information before he(Clinton) left office & the Bushies ignored it until 9/11.

My jaw dropped

when I read that he was chairman of the Missing and Exploited Children's Caucus. And he introduced legislation to protect children from exploitation by adults over the Net--probably one of those laws that Congress is exempt from.

Another hit to the Republican tit: Foley--disgustipating.

And then there's Abramoff...

You're damn right there are

You're damn right there are a lot more of us. Unfortunately, the rich white elite are very good at dividing us against each other and even against ourselves. The cut-throat nature of capitalism is worse here than in many other "first-world" nations, where there's a healthy respect for competition rather than a sense the sense of entitlement that Americans possess: that I DESERVE to be rich, and I'm justified in doing anything I can get away with to make that happen. This grab-what-you-can-and-fuck-the-other-guy attitude has been turning lower-class people against each other for centuries. It's especially bad among young black men who're influenced by rap & hip-hop stars, whose lyrics are a non-stop, pornographic barrage of conspicuous consumption and indiscriminate violence. Not only that, but: television. As long as people care made it to the next round on Idol or Survivor, there will be no revolution. In theory, though, you're totally right. The big question now is: how to we get the masses to correctly identify their enemies? Shit, a lot of people still think Saddam Hussein had something to do with 9/11, just because George Bush TOLD them so. How do you reach somebody like that? EVOLVE OR DIE.

EVOLVE OR DIE.

Don't worry ,be happy

To the tune of dont worry be happy: Terrorist all get on a train, easier now than gettin on a plane, dont worry be happy. Iran say they will build a bomb, dont think they will do any harm, dont worry , be happy. do do do dodoo do do. Think we should all get up and leave Iraq, the new leader there he wont be a quack, dont worry , be happy. Look, we can bury our heads in the sand like Clinton did after the first world trade center attack and the USS Cole etc.. Or we could ignore things like we did with Japanese Imperialism or Hitler expanding the mother land by invading half of Europe. Lets give the president props for having a vision of tommorow rather than having to counterpunch after a sucker punch. With the nuclear reality of today there is no such thing as fear mongering. Hitler or Tojo never had a nuke. You can walk around with rose colored glasses and be annoyed at anyone spoiling your view. Just lets hope your not on the recieving end of the next sucker punch. It's hard to see clearly with those shades on.
