Feed Your Skin From Within.
posted November 4, 2009 - 5:21pmThere are numerous excellent skin producta on the market today. They promise a smooth, blemish-free, youthful complexion to eveyone who tries them, and many of them certainly can improve the skin's appearance, to some degree. However, the only sure, and permanent way, to have more beautiful skin is to feed it properly from within.
To have good skin, you will need to eat a balanced diet, rich in low-fat dairy products, whole grains, lean protein, vegetables, and fruits. You will also want to get plenty of rest, and exercise. However, there are several specific food nutrients that will go the extra mile towards keeping your skin bright and glowing.
The first of these is PSYLLIUM. Psyllium literally exfoliates skin from within, helping it to regenerate and slough off dead cells. Psyllium also firms the look of skin as it improves the way skin cells attach to each other to provide a smoother surface. Psyllium fibre is found in many cereals so check labels. It can also be found in bulk powder in health food stores. Another benefit of Psyllium is that, included in your daily diet, it can help to lower bad cholesterol.
The second food, that is of great benefit to skin, is a VITAMIN A rich food, such as cheese. Vitmin A rich cheese keeps the skin glowing as it helps the growth of new healthy skin cells in the skin's second layer, the dermis. A continuous growth of these new cells is essential if the surface of the skin is to appear smooth and fresh. Try to choose a cheese that also contains probiotics as these help reduce inflammation.
The third nutritional benefit comes from B VITAMINS. B Vitamins provide the skin with the energy to create new cells. One of the best souces of B Vitamis is Brewer's Yeast. This is available from health food stores and is easily dissolved in water or juice. Ask your nutritionist what your daily dose should be. It is advisable to start with a very low dose and work your way up.
OMEGA-3 FATTY ACIDS found in fish such as wild salmon, halibut and mackeral are essential to prevent the skin from inflammation which can cause blotchy red areas. Mackeral is excellent as it also neutralizes free radicals which can damage skin and cause it to become dull, patchy, and rough looking.
The final beneficial element for better skin, comes from VITAMIN E. Just as toxins and sunlight can cause unattractive spots to mar the skin, Vitamin E can prevent this, by provining fat-soluble antioxidants to prevent free radicals from causing actual skin damage. An excellent source of Vitamin E is the sesame seed. This tiny seed, which you can sprinkle on cereal or bake into bread, muffins, and cookies, also contains copper which assists in the production of antioxidants.
Although other foods also contain these five nutritional elements, the examples given are the best souces, and those most easily incorporated into virtually any diet.
