Colorful hot air balloons litter the skies near Philadelphia! What is it? It’s the Festival of Balloons held each year just outside of Philadelphia in Readington, NJ. The Festival of Balloons is one of the most highly anticipated summer festivals. It draws thousands of people from all over the nation who come just to see the exotic and colorful hot air balloons. If you are a real enthusiast, don’t miss the 6:30am and 6:30pm hot air balloon ascensions. Due to the wind changes and atmospheric conditions, these are the safest times for the balloons to depart during The Festival of Balloons. The vibrant balloons draw the attention of people of all ages.

One of the highlight events of The Festival of Balloons is the balloon glow that occurs on Saturday evening just after the sun goes down during the evening musical concert. At predetermined times, the pilots of the balloons will blast their burners filled with propane, and the skies will light up like lightning bugs on a summer night. These huge glowing balloons are a spectacular sight and a popular activity at The Festival of Balloons.

Some of the other activities available to you during The Balloon Festival include: yoga at sunrise, Al Jardin’s Band, Meaghan Martin, and Kool and the Gang. In addition, there are plenty of opportunities for the children such as amusement rides and art and crafts. For those who are daring at heart, you can actually purchase a ticket to ride on a hot air balloon that is either tethered or free floating.

For the safety of the visitors, coolers, bottles, and food are not allowed into The Festival of Balloons. However, once inside the grounds, many vendors and concession booths have been set up to provide you with a variety of delightful treats. Pets are not allowed.

The cost for admission to The Festival of Balloons is $17.00 per day per adult and $7.00 per day per child. Additional payment is required for balloon rides. If you would like to purchase a VIP pass, those are $149 per person for the entire event.
