Fibromyalgia is often difficult to diagnose because there are so many symptoms and several other disorders mimic those symptoms. Fibromyalgis is chronic widespread pain. There are 18 specific tender points on the body for someone suffering from this pain. Those points are located behind the ears, on each side of your trapezius and supraspinatus. They are also above your buttocks at the gluteal and then below the buttocks at the greater trochanter. Those are on the back side of the body. On the front of the body the area's that will be tender to touch is above your ribs called your low cervical, at the lateral epicondyte and both knee's.

The cause of fibro is unknown although some researchers have several theories about causes and triggers of the disorder. This can be caused by injury or trauma, emotional trauma, life changing experiences. But when it strikes it is debilitaing. I have fibromyalgia and I could easily tell you where I don't hurt than to list every part of me that is in pain. My pain level runs from 5 to 6 in the mornings and later in the afternoon it peaks at 9 to 10. Ten being the most severe. One day you can feel great and the next you feel like you have been struck by the flu virus. We call that flares.

Medication and attitude is a large part of treating this syndrome. The pharmacutical companies have just recently trying to create a pill to help aleivate the pain and depression caused by this disease.

There is no cure and no simple way to treat fibromyalgia.
