Even before the majority of Filipina nurses work abroad, many Filipina are already working as domestic helpers. But it is not because it is the only job they knew then but because of the many varied reasons. To cite some;

> Most of the Filipina working as domestic helpers in other country are seeking for a much higher and better salary which their salary in performing their professions in their country could not equate.

> Some of them were not able to obtain college degrees because of poverty and so could not fit on a high-paying job in their country. To alleviate their flight, they work abroad even as domestic helpers.

> It is their way of seeing and touring other countries, meeting other nationalities, and hoping to stay on the foreign land they learned to love and treat like their own.

To think, these Filipina domestic helpers are simple-minded people. With simple goals and dreams in life. But how come some of their foreign employers could not treat them right?

I've known a lot of stories, others were even featured on news, of the ordeals of some unfortunate Filipina domestic helpers in the hands of their foreign employers. To share you some of it;

> A certain Filipina domestic helper is being made as sex slave by her foreign employer. Being tied and forced to have sex. It was even taken a video and send via cellphones.

> A certain Filipina domestic helper is not being feeded right and not recieving her monthly salary. Was send back home to her family black & blue and no longer on her right senses.

> A certain Filipina domestic helper is being rape by her employer and his sons. Worst, asks others to do the same on her with a certain fee. She was made into a prostitute.

> A certain Filipina being asks to work all day and all night long. No relaxation and being locked inside her room if her employer and his family goes out. No phone, television and radio. And is even prohibited to write her family.

And a lot more disturbing and painful stories. Filipina are human, too. They deserves equal treatment, whether they are domestic helpers or not.

Domestic helpers are great help in our house. They make our household choirs easy for us. Let us all be thankful for them. And never treat them like slaves or properties which we can do anything and everything on them as we wish.

Filipina works as domestic helpers to earn a decent living for their families back home. To augment their daily financial needs. To give them better future. Let us not serve as stumbling blocks for them. But support them in reaching theis simple goals and dreams.
