Financial Stability-How Important is it In a Relationship?

Almost anyone I know who is single has the burning desire to find and connect with someone in a very special way. I have quite a few friends who set very high standards. They want someone who is tall dark, handsome and rolling in dough.

Is money really that important in an intimate relationship? Why cant love hold strong and fast amidst the difficult financial storms of life? and are my friends wrong in wanting financial stability and security from their male counterparts. Women over the centuries have been groomed to expect a man to take up the lead and be bread winners for their families. Even in todays society where women are getting out there and working just as hard as men and sometimes harder, men are still expected to have a bank account that can stand the test of time.

I was once involved in a very serious relationship with someone around my age. We were both fresh out of university and decided to build a life together. Just finding jobs that suited our qualifications were hard enough. Sadly enough the harsh economic climate and student loan payments began to draw on us financially. We were so stressed out by these monetary troubles that we began snapping at each other and arguing constantly about money. Eventually we each moved out of the apartment we had searched for and paid for together to live with our parents. We never saw each other after this. So is rolling dough an important attribute for a partner to have? No, but a certain level of financial stability can make the relationship a lot more workable.
