Fire David Letterman?

Fire David Letterman?

Should David Letterman be fired for his offhand joke about Sarah Palin's daughter? The answer is "No". He should no more be fired than Don Imus should have been fired by NBC.

I am a Palin supporting conservative; and I thought the joke was distasteful and immature. It did not deserve the press it has received over the past days. The only reason it got so much attention was because of Sarah Palin's response.

Palin's response reminded me somewhat of Vietnam. The enemy fires a rocket then we destroy a village. Who is going to get the most most negative press? It certainly isn't the rocket that simply blew a hole in the ground.

It's not that Mrs. Palin should not have responded. I think she should just have made the point that the whole thing was immature and really not funny.

If people stop watching Letterman then he will be gone. Otherwise; he'll continue to take his so-called humor to another level. That kind of humor is a product of society ... not of David Letterman's lack of genius.
