Firefighters try to hold the line at Foothills Ranch, a small community of 10,000 people. Forty foot flames blaze in the air as residents evacuate behind a line of firefighters trying to protect their community.

Earlier today 12 firefighters were trapped on a ridge off Santiago Canyon Road. As flames rushed up the hill, firefighters deployed their fire shelters and waiting until the area had been burned over to emerge and find safety.

They all emerged alive. Several were treated at the site by paramedics, but all refused to go to the hospital. In case you dont know... a fire shelter is like a little foil tent they can hide under while the flames burn over them..... talk about courage....

Fire investigators revealed today that the fires in this area are the result of arson. It seems that they were deliberately set in three areas near the 241 toll road. Over 15,000 acres have burned in this area so far.

The fires have been whipped to ferocious dimensions and speeds by the fierce winds.... which promise to grow stronger over the next few days....
