First Day First Show - Kya Aap Panchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? Flop Show!

After a great deal of suspense, drama and fanfare about the Reality TV Game Show (predicted to be one of the greatest television shows ever in Indian TV history) "Kya Aap Panchvi Paa Se Tez Hain?" I sat down to watch it for the first day first show (with great enthusiasm and expectations)at 8.00 pm telecast on Star Plus Channel today, and let me tell you that I was thoroughly disappointed with the whole show! And I mean every aspect of it! Why? you ask? Let me explain in detail.

Well, for a start, I know it for a fact that this TV show started its campaign with a search for the so called Vth graders from all schools in Mumbai. My own son who was then in the IVth grade gave the answers to a test paper that was circulated in the whole class. He answered all the questions correctly (apparently he was the only student from all over Mumbai who got all the answers 100% correct)! He was then called for an "interview" to the studio of Synergy Adlabs, where they did all the motions of taking his photographs and the "interview" and sent him back saying that they would call him, if required! Of course, the call never came! So, it goes without saying that I was obviously curious to know who eventually got selected to participate in the show! Today I saw the programme and was certain that all the kids that are present on the show are all "models" that have been selected to just sit "pretty" on the show and "act" very intelligent! I have seen the girl called Shreya many times earlier in TV serials and advertisements.

That's not the end of it, the first woman participant to appear in the show was supposed to be a PHD from Andhra University in the language of Hindi. Well, its amazing that she chose any and all subjects, but Hindi to answer questions from. She was too decked up and was overacting and obviously knew the answers to all the questions that were being asked! Everything from the start to the finish of the show was nothing but "acting"! There was nothing "Real" about the show at all!

To come to the questions that were being asked,do they really think that we are unaware of what subjects are taught in classes 1st to 5th? Well, I can say with total confidence that NO class 2nd student would know what a "Prism" looked like or even what it is! So, forget knowing "how many edges there are in a prism! Which Class 1 student would know "Which Ocean has the greatest average depth?" Which class 3 student would know the detailed parts of a seed? We were taught this in the 11th std! Which class 3rd or even 4th or 5th for that matter student is taught Indian history in school, other than just general knowledge? And the surprising fact is that all the "kids" in the show answered "all" the questions correctly and seemed very confident of their answers! I challenge these same kids to come and answer questions from their own text books and then I would like to see how many answers they get right, and "How" confident they are of their answers!

Another aspect that was encouraging, in the beginning, was that the program was being set up by none other than Sidhaarth Basu, who is known for many other such quiz programs which were very successful! So, the program having this standard of performance is a real "shocker!"

So, all in all, the show is nothing but a "show" that's purely for entertainment and to collect money from the masses in the form of SMSes and phonecalls! It's perfectly clear that they never intended to call anyone from the general public and will also NOT be giving out any "REAL" cash! ITS ALL JUST A SHOW!

I am thinking of all those poor kids who got their hopes up and thought they would get selected and sit next to their idol "Shah Rukh Khan" and then were let down and disappointed when they weren't! I know for a fact that my son was really let down and may begin to think that he was not "smart" enough for the show?

There is a saying, "You can fool some of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all the people all the time!"

All in all, I pronounce this show as a total "Flop Show!" I am sure you can do better than this, Shah Rukh!

Thanks for your comments!

Thanks, mamamia and taprial for your comments and yes, now that you mentioned the ads, I remember seeing her in those ads in the TV and had also seen the movie in which Salman Khan has acted with this kid. I knew for a fact that I had seen all these faces on the TV or the big screen for sure! It's a real shame! Mamamia is also right about Sidhaarth Basu's Child genius show, I watched that too and it was so much different and better than this with real kids from real schools participating in the show. And one could make out that those kids were actual "geniuses" and not "fake"! I wonder why they have kept the same set of five kids for all the episodes? Or, no, I think I know the answer: It is so as to have complete control over how much the participant can win from the show and leave! After all they can't just dole out cash to each and every one who comes! My,my... this has been thought out to the last dot...!

panchvi pass

if thats the case - at least they should try to make this fake look real at least! or do they think shahrukh can sell "anything" (well, actually he can)! sides on a prism? hehe, am sure my son doesnt even know what a prism is - (unless it appears on yu-gi-oh)! but sidharth basu's india's child genius was pretty real, since a frnd's son from my child's school had made it to the top 6. i mk it a ponit not to watch shahrukh's reality shows since i just cant stand his hamming. nicely written. +1 To read all of my writing here at Xomba please visit my profile page

Last Time For Me

Nice observations Rawnak, though i am certain 90% of the literate India and Pakistan and rest of the world who watched the show, must be having the same thoughts. It is good that finally People are realizing that Even Shah Rukh Khan is part of the blood and money sucking mafia looting and cheating the middle class. Even i was foxed with the questions being asked. Which country's syllabus were they using? India is supposedly having one of the toughest syllabii in school and that is why the Indians who migrate abroad do so well outside, at least in studies. Prism, in second grade, that's a joke. And that too a triangular prism. I am certain the word triangular added to the prism would have put most science students and engineers in a doubt as to the shape. But the five 'spy whiz kids' sitting on the show new exactly what it is and for a moment i thought that they were going to start talking abut metaphysics and spectroscopy. Even the 'Which part of the seed grows into a root' was a gem. Apparently a third grade question, the kids knew this as well. I checked up and found that development of a seed is covered only in the XII grade as per NCERT. It all leads to three conclusions, Doctored, Doctored and Doctored. I think such shows ought to be forced to go live. Then we will come to know what exactly goes on and also whether Shah Rukh Khan really can without a retake. I did some search and research. You have excellent memory and observation skills and are right about Shriya Sharma. She has done ads for Asian paints (Bindaas Kaat), Colgate, Whirlpool, Clinic Plus, Nirma, Santoor soap, Asian Paints, Sunfeast Pasta, HDFC, Punjab National Bank. She has also done Kasauti Zindagi Kay, Jhoot Bole Kauwa Kaate and Telugu film Jai Chiranjeeva. She has been acting since she was four. Dheirya Sonecha has also appeared in the film Baabul as Salman Khan's son. Another actor/model. I don't want to check the rest. If you see their profiles on http://www.indya.com/paanchvipass/classmate5.html You will find their favorite subjects listed as social studies and Geography. Why would a child have these as a favourite subject when his subject in school is environmental studies. Anyways it is good that your son learns the reality behind these reality shows so early in life and stops getting misled by the dreams these shows sell.
