Five Hot Video Game Gift Ideas for that Special Gamer Someone

Every gamer needs two things in life, new equipment and new games. So if you love a gamer then you need to help them out this Christmas season by getting them either one or the other. Of course if they are completely obsessed with gaming you might check them into the Video Gamers Rehab Center in Amsterdam, at least you get a trip to Amsterdam out of it.

Honestly everyone that knows a gamer or is a gamer knows by now that the two hottest things coming out for the season are the new Nintendo Wii and the Sony Playstation 3. But due to extremely high demand and even lower supply I will not include these in the list because this is a practical list. But just because they don't have the console yet or you cannot afford it does not mean you cannot help them enjoy it.

The Legend of Zelda - Twilight Princesszelda-wii Probably the most anticipated game of the season for the Nintendo Wii. Carrying on in the tradition of the Zelda series the game finds Link in a nice peaceful life that is radically changed when he must go on a seemingly innocuous journey. The game will show off the cutting-edge Wii-mote, the new controller for the Wii, by utilizing it for many facets of the game including fishing, attacking, moving, and the new horse combat system. Since their first appearance the Zelda games have captured the hearts and minds of gamers for years and this game will be no different so hop on your horse and ride to your nearest store.

Pokeman Ranger for the Nintendo DS Let's face it, no matter what they do Nintendo cannot go wrong with yet another Pokemon game. I bet even our beloved and beleaguered moderator PoisedGuru here on Xomba is looking forward to this game. The game uses the touch screen on the DS to allow you to circle them with the stylus in order to catch them. Then you must utilize the specific powers of each in order to clear the missions and progress through the game. In the game you play as a Ranger not a Trainer, as in past games. Rangers travel and use their pokemon to defend nature from the bad guys. This game will also link to the Diamond and Pearl Pokemon games that are also forthcoming later this year. Sometimes it seems like EVERYONE loves Pokemon so you have a good chance of scoring big points with this game. Plus to capture this game you will only need a little cash.

The X-box 360 Core System - Sony and Nintendo are not the only players in the game. Microsoft already released their new system and it is still hot. This is the core system, some might call it the 'cheap version,' but it has everything your gamer needs to game. The console was a major step forward in technology due to its built-in support for HD (High Definition) up to 1080i resolution. The core package includes the console itself, one wired controller, a detachable faceplate (for customization later), and standard AV cables. Along with all that it comes with an Xbox Live Silver Membership which allows the console to connect through its built-in network port (via a broadband connection) to the Microsoft gaming service where they can chat, buy game expansions and game with other gamers online. It is a big chunk of change but if they do not have it and want it then you will hit the High Score list with them for years to come.

Marvel Ultimate AllianceSuperheroes and video games have gone hand-in-hand for hundreds of years. Well, maybe not hundreds of years but ever since video games hit the home there have been superhero games. Ultimate Alliance, based in the Marvel universe with such well-known names as Spider-man, Thor, X-men, Ghost Rider and more, is, well, the ultimate in superhero gaming to date. The game will feature more than 140 characters from their comics and allow you to, from the start, choose from 20 character with more unlocked as you progress. It is, in essense, a massive fighting game because that is what superheroes do, fight for right. A multitude of arenas for combat a wide array of super powers will make every battle unique. The game will be available for every major system and will hit stores on November 14th. Fly over to a retailer and get your holiday shopping done early and it will be you who is a hero come Christmas.

Sony PlayStation Portable (PSP) Core When it comes to multimedia entertainment systems in the palm of your hand nothing can beat the PSP, Sony's Playstation Portable. It is a complete handheld entertainment unit that will allow for hours of video games, movies and music in one portable package. With built-in wireless you can battle head-to-head with your friends or even complete strangers. Found an internet hot spot? Jump on the web with the on-board browser and check your email or grab some photos or music for your system on the go. The PSP also accepts the Memory Stick Pro for unlimited music, photos and videos. New release films are also available for the system on its UMD disc format. If you are taking a long trip for the holidays you may be hard pressed to not unwrap this and use it yourself before you arrive.

These gifts will make you a superstar or even a superhero with that gamer in your life and with the ability to buy online there is no need to even leave the house to get your shopping done! So make life easy on yourself and get your shopping done fast and early, then have a seat and knock back some egg nog.

Good Read.

I've got to argue the PSP and X-box. While I personally think the X-box might be the better choice than a PS3 (Price and availability) I would say the WII may very well add a new dimension not yet seen in the video gaming industry. (Not to mention the low cost $250). Though I do realize you like in Europe and Santa doesn't have any WIIs for you guys on Xmas. I think people should consider Nintendo DS before a PSP. More games and cheaper cost. Of course if Sony could get a working browser out on the PSP then even I would want to get one.
