The flat belly diet description and sassy water recipe
posted December 31, 2008 - 2:18pmSo the flat belly diet is another “eat yourself thin” diet, however from what I have read it actually sounds quite healthy compared to the Atkins.
Basically its eating lots of foods that are high in monounsaturated fats and drinking “sassy water”, …. Right?
The good news for all you chocolate-aholics is that this does include DARK chocolate, other indulgences are on the list also, including avocado.
It also involves drinking something called “Sassy Water”, which is possibly the most stupid name for any drink I have ever heard and makes me think “Marketing ploy…”
So after a lot of digging around I found the recipe:
2 liters, 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger, 1 medium cucumber, peeled and thinly sliced. 1 lemon, thinly sliced and 12 mint leaves. Leave to steep in your fridge overnight.
This actually sounds quite refreshing! – shame about its silly name.
Foods high in monounsaturated fat are:
Oils: Sunflower, and olive oil, and canola
Avocados
Nuts, macadamian
Eating oily fish is also a good move.
So with any new diet, be careful.
If you have high cholesterol this diet may be what you need, as eating monounsaturated fats help lower bad cholesterol.
Also, replacing bad fats, such as butter and lard, with monounsaturated will also reduce your intake of bad fats and also reduce your cholesterol.
