Florida Primary | Race for the Presidency | Latest Trends
posted January 29, 2008 - 11:56pmWith the Florida primaries over, we can now discern a clearer trend as to which candidates are likely the pull the votes in the ultimate elections in the race for the presidency.
John McCain and Mitt Romney have done well in the Florida Primary, each garnishing over 30% of the votes. Ron Paul, on which many have pinned their hopes for a change in government direction, only managed 3.2%. It doesn't seem that Ron Paul has the pulling power overall.
The indications are that Rudy Giuliani will withdraw from the race and give his support to McCain. Giuliani has already done much better than can be expected. His appeal based on his perceived image stemming from the events of 9/11 was never good enough.
In the Democratic camp, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are the leaders. Sen. Edward Kennedy has given his endorsement to Obama. That is significant support. John Edwards still commands some decent support. The others candidates are faltering. So it looks like it's basically going to be a three-legged race but not for long.
