Food Safety Certification??

Well, I work for a particular Food Broker that services a pretty large Warehouse, but we won’t name any names for fear of retaliation. =0)
Every now and again we get food samples in to cook, and sell to particular buyers who might consider bringing
this product into the Warehouse. OK, so we get samples every single day.
Anyhow… Everyone here has to take a food safety certification in order to work here. The class sucks, but whatever.
Not too long ago, we had PLENTY of leftover samples for everyone to take home. So the business managers had to go thru what samples they had and place them out for the taking. Due to the fact that we’ve all taken serious food safety courses, you would think someone would know when something has gone bad, notice a rancid smell, double check code dates, etc….
I take some boxes of some very good tasting blueberry bars, and deliver them to my aunt. I figured my little baby cousins would LOVE the blueberry bars, so why not?
After about an hour and a half of messin with the kids and heading home, I get a phone call from my aunt. I thought maybe she’d be calling to ask me how to cook them (as some times these samples don’t come with cooking instructions) or even better that she’d be telling me the kids loved them. Instead, she’s calling me to ask me if the “Sealed” bags should have maggots in them??? Yes, maggots. Apparently the box I took home was from “2 years ago”. Come on people… You guys should know better. Now my Aunt is skeptical of anything I offer her, and I don’t trust the people I work with… I mean, it’s bad enough they don’t have my back while I’m gone… Is this a sign that they want me to leave?
Maybe I should wield a firearm to make them start actin right!
