Football Manager 2010
posted October 28, 2009 - 5:11pmThe self proclaimed "greatest job on earth" can be pre-ordered for £22.99 for this Friday. It goes on sale in selected stores at midnight this Thursday and there will definitely be many fanatics lining up to be the first to be in possession of this latest edition.
The Football Manager (FM) 2010 demo has been out for a while now. Last night I downloaded all 270Mb of it, it was smaller than I thought it would be. There is also a larger demo available with pretty photos of all the players; I'm not blessed with great patience so the small version had to do. I've now played for more or less six hours and can say without a shadow of doubt that this game will be very successful. FM 09 was a massive hit and this is better. Much better!
The game speed has been increased greatly and runs more smoothly. It's more playable. There's a scary thought considering the ease with which I have played all of its predecessors. The game as always includes the hours played clock and with it the addictivedness rating. In previous versions I have been advised to "remember to change [my] underwear" and told that "real managers don't need food". What makes these games so great is the game's constant evolution through the developers decision-making, adapting and adding where necessary yet maintaining the same usability.
Play this game at your own risk. It's best played with plenty of spare time available.
One of my favourite advertisments from one of FM 10's predecessors, Championship Manager 01/02
