The Forbes Billionaires List 2009

The Forbes billionaires list 2009 is a list of the most richest billionaires in the world. These individuals have more money that they could ever need and combining their fortunes togeater surpasses the GDP of some of the countries in Africa, with such wealth power and respect people often wonder how they achieved this, by knowing how each person achieved their goal and realised their dream can motivate us into becoming the next wave of billionaires. So here goes, please put your hands togeather for the Forbes Billionaires List 2009

BILLIONAIRE 1. Bill Gates — $40 billion

Microsoft helped to make the computer easier to use with its developed and purchased software, and made it a commercial success. The success of Microsoft began with the MS-DOS computer operating system that Gates licensed to IBM. Gates also set about protecting the royalties that he could acquire from computer software by aggressively fighting against all forms of software piracy, effectively creating the retail software market that now exists today. This move was quite controversial at the time as it was the freedom of sharing that produced much innovation and advances in the newly forming software industry. But it was this stand against software piracy, that was to be central in the great commercial success that Microsoft went on to achieve.

BILLIONAIRE 2. Warren Buffett — $37 billion

Warren Buffett, the man, is just as hard to define as Warren Buffett, the investor. He projects a homespun frugality but one suspects that he plays his personality as close to the chest as he does his investment secrets. He always claims that it is his partner, Charlie Munger, who keeps his feet planted firmly in the ground. Most of the money he has acquired has been through his investments in stock where he realised value would previal once the market realised how good the company really was, in essence WB was great at finding undervlaued stock.

BILLIONAIRE 3. Carlos Slim Helu and family — $35 billion

The financial success that Slim Helu has achieved has been from finding undervalued companies and making them profitable. Telefonos de Mexico (Telmex) was acquired during a privatization period in 1990 of the Mexican government. Carlos was criticized for raising phone call costs soon after purchasing the business, but he went on to improve phone services in Mexico with the company offering local and long distance calls, mobile phone services, Internet services, and a telephone directory. Despite living in Mexico the billionaire has proven that location should not come in the way of persueing your dreams, he is now a inspiration to young aspiring Mexicans.

BILLIONAIRE 4. Lawrence Ellison — $22.5 billion

Although he was labeled as an intelligent child, Larry Ellison was inattentive in his studies. After graduating from South Shore High School, Ellison attended the University of Illinois but left at the end of his second year after the death of his adoptive mother. He spent the summer living in Northern California with his friend Chuck Weiss then continued his studies at the University of Chicago. He only spent one term at the University during which time he discovered computer programming and permanently relocated to Northern California. He was 20 years old at the time. Ellison now the maker of Oracle enjoys the success of his database system profits.

BILLIONAIRE 5. Ingvar Kamprad and family — $22 billion

While IKEA's unconventional ownership structure makes this the matter of some debate, there is no doubt that IKEA is still one of the largest, most successful privately held companies in the world, with over 200 stores in 31 countries, employing over 75,000 people and generating over 12 billion in sales annually. Kamprad's concept behind Ikea was groundbreaking, his rapid share of the market has made him one of the fastest person to reach multi billionaire status.
