A Massachusetts mother apparently saw suicide as her only option, after she hadn't been paying the mortgage on her home in many months. She faxed a note to the mortgage company, warning that she would be dead before they could finalize the foreclosure, and the suicide note lying by her body told her family to pay for the house with her life insurance money.

Most life insurance policies will not cover suicide, so her planned death was very likely in vain. These stories of ultimate desperation are so very sad, though not nearly as rare as I'd like to hope, particularly with the economy the way it is currently.
