Ford Improves Quality.
posted November 2, 2009 - 10:34pmI have always wondered what the American auto makers were thinking. You know what I am talking about, for decades the Japanese have all but dominated the likes of Ford, GM and Chrsyler when it comes to quality. While the Americans were focused on big V8 engines the Japanese were perfecting simple 4 bangers that get good fuel milage. It is almost like they could predict the future. For the longest time we were loyal to our American auto makers, but were they loyal to us? Producing cars that for the most part were considered below average from a reliability standard. It almost took a callopse from the major three to realize they were not making a good quality vehicle.
Ford, out of the big three seems to be making strides on producing quality. For about three decades the F150 has been the top selling truck, it is a good vehicle, made to last. But some of the other vehicles in Ford's portfolio were lacking. In the sedan segment Honda and Toyota dominated for years and it wasn't because they make a better looking car. People trusted that when they spent their hard earned money on them they would get a good product in return and more times than not they did.
Today Ford has completely revamped their line of vehicles offered to the American public. And their strategy to improve quality is starting to pay off. Reliability test show Ford sedans surpassed Toyota and Honda according to ConsumerReports.org. Apparently this is the second year Ford has accomplished this. This is good news for consumers and the American auto industry. Maybe when considering a new sedan we can throw the new Taurus on the list instead of leaving it off. In reliability test Ford dominated the domestic auto makers, the least reliable vehicle was the Volkswagon Touareg. If you are considering buying a new car soon take a look at the web site below.

Ford
I have been following this closely atleast Ford given they did not take any money. They posted close to a billion in profits, most of it came from the cash for clunkers program. In one form or another serves as a bailout.
Ford
I noticed in the news that Ford reported a sizable profit for the 3rd quarter. Maybe the American manufacturers are turning it around. At least the one that did not request a bailout.
