Fossil fuels present clear danger to our oceans

It took a few days before this cleared through to the opinion pages, but it finally did. I left out the details of how ocean acidification happens, but I encourage you to read more here (particularly "Carbon cycle" and "Acidification").

Well, I think because some people don't believe that global warming (and man-made C02 pollution) exists, or they don't believe than humans are causing it, or they believe that if it is happening it's not a big deal. I happen to agree with the letter. The comments to this blurb are now about four times as long as that letter!

The purpose of the letter was to point to other environmental issues related to man-made CO2 pollution aside from global warming. I do not understand why the comments in this discussion have so little bearing on the actual submission.

that most of the oil produced in the U.S. is sold to places outside the U.S. That's the capitalist way. There's no law that says oil extracted in the U.S. must be sold to American suppliers. It's sold on the open market to whomever is willing to pay. That's the way things work, they way they've always worked.
