Four Quick Thoughts on The Humility of God, by John Macquarrie

God's calling is his standing with us and sharing the adventures of history with us.

God's grace refers to God's presence and co-working with his children as we strive. God's grace strengthens us and encourages us. He stands with us as we walk with him.

Hope doesn’t contain any guarantees. It doesn't make things easy, but it gives us strength to take on difficult endeavors. Hope is humble, trusting and vulnerable. The Christian's hope is that God is with us and ahead of us at the same time, clearing a trail which we can responsibly follow.

The voice of God is a quiet one, not loud and not strident.
