Free Credit Report

Free Credit Report

A few months back I noticed that there was something questionable on my credit report. I had always checked my report for the free yearly report, however, during that time, something was posted falsely to my report, without my knowledge.

Your credit score affects many aspects of your life. It not only affects your finance rates, it may also affect your insurance rates and employment.

I signed up for freecreditreport.com. There is a monthly service fee associated with this site, however, its service has been invaluable to me. You are notified by email everytime someone access your report. You are also notified of any changes on your report.

As long as you check your email daily, you can help protect yourself from identity theft, which makes this service so important to my life.

It's not free if there if a fee associated with getting it

This is nothing personal against you, nicolemm. It's just that I have an issue with that website claiming that you can get a FREE credit report only if you sign up for their monthly monitoring service, which is contradictory on its face. There used to be a thing called Truth in Advertising so consumers knew everything up front about a product and were not misled by deceptive claims. Apparently, their lawyers found a loophole just big enough for them to climb through. If anyone is interested in a truly FREE credit report from Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion, one need look no further than www.annualcreditreport.com. Under the law, a consumer is entitled to one free credit report from each of the three credit reporting agencies per year. (This is in addition to being entitled to a copy of your report if you've been denied credit.) It is very simple to use, since you are basically entering your information once on the annualcreditreport.com website and they take you automatically to the websites for the Big 3 CRA's. ATTITUDE IS EVERYTHING
