Freedom of the press further dismantled by prying police force

Is the loss of civil liberties in the sake of security OK? We Americans seem to think so in times of war. However, all too often law enforcement uses measures intended to stop terrorists as tricks to get around laws protecting the people and press. The Los Angeles Times reports that the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department searched the phone records of the celebrity gossip media outlet TMZ. So the question is now, "What about freedom of the press?" Luckily, a lawyer owns TMZ so the matter will go to court...
