From mean girls to mean adults

I am watching a documentary about mean girls. They are talking about how girls torment each other. It drove one young girl to suicide.

I remember the torture well. Even my homeschooled daughter gets is in the neighborhood becasue she stands out for homeschooling. Let's not even mention the pageant girls. They smile to your face as they are checking you out, and then make faces behind your back.

But what about adults. Even some men do it. Just journaling about yourself, you may get a comment with someone making a blanket judgement statement about you.... when writing in your own journal. How many of us are told we are wrong about what we think, who we are?

Why are we mean?

It's the Desire for Personal Prosperity

True; an 'enlightened' human is totally past jealousy like that--`e has what `e needs, and only disagrees with 'other people getting more' if `e doesn't have what `e needs--but people who get what they need without that enlightenment think that "anyone else getting more" is WRONG. Natural human insecurity, I

Natural human insecurity, I guess. We want to elevate ourselves and our behavior by demeaning others. EVERYONE does this...it's part of our nature, our survival instinct. But that's not to say its impossible to control it and try to extricate it from our lives. Good luck.
