Is FRS Energy Drink With Quercetin A Scam?

Is The Energy Drink FRS as advertised by Lance Armstrong a scam?

I ordered some recently, after reading the lengthy advertisement and claims that it gives you more energy and endurance due to the miracle ingredient, the antioxidant quercetin.

What is quercetin? It is a natural antioxidant found in certain fruits such as cherries, apples, oranges etc. Studies in mice showed that quercetin supplements increased endurance. This led many including FRS and even beverage giant Coca Cola to develop sports drinks featuring quercetin. Coca Cola began by funding a study of the effects of quercetin on athletes. Done through the University of Georgia, thirty athletes were tested  over a period of several weeks. The study found that there was no difference between the control group, who drank a drink containing no quercetin, and the test group. Apparently humans and mice behave differently in response to quercetin.

FRS went ahead and began marketing the sports drink while Coca Cola abandoned their project.

Now FRS is sold through ads on the internet, TV and in sports magazines with a catch "Free Trial Offer".

I ordered the free sample, which costs $6.00 to ship and it arrived at my door a few days later. I tried the drink for about three days, felt no effects, or should I say no greater effect than taking a multivitamin. FRS does contain a lot of B vitamins, which do give you energy. I called to cancel but was told my regular shipment was on the way. It would cost over $60.00 and it was too late to cancel.

After repeated calls to try and cancel the package showed up at my door. I told the delivery man that I did not want it and he carried it back to the truck. Had I not been home to refuse it, it would have been delivered. I lodged a complaint with my credit card company who got the charges refunded. All of this hassle for something that had a mediocre energy effect to say the least.

I don't doubt that quercetin is a great antioxidant and is probably good for you, but to be the sole basis for a miracle energy drink? I think Lance blew it on this one. I still have great respect for him and what he has achieved after fighting off cancer but I think he was wrongly steered into backing the FRS energy drink.

So is FRS energy drink a scam? It is  the problem of canceling further shipments that is the biggest problem. I don't mind spending some money on shipping to try a product but when it's almost impossible to cancel the other shipments that follow, that's just scammy to me.
