Frumpy Utahns

Welcome to Utah! Where the driving is a near death experience, and the air quality decreases daily. Here we also find some of the best, and worst dressed people in the country. Today story takes place in and around Brigham Young University, a pillar of success and overwhelming morals. This esteemed university is so focused on keeping their students in the sight of spirituality that they seemed to have lost sight of all else. Including their sense of fashion!
There are generally two types of trends when it comes to the BYU student clothing selections. And both of them are very poorly put together. The first is of course the “BYU dress code” as I like to call it. This style ranges from a blue to grey tee shirt, with tan pants or jeans. The shirts must come with a BYU print or a cougar print. No exceptions. Shoes must be gym shoes, which seem to be bought from Deseret Industries.
Accessories include a BYU hat or a BYU book bag.
The second type of BYU style seems to be a spin off of the Muslim attire. No skin showing. Of course this rule only applies to the women, and there are a few exceptions. They can show their face and their hands, but that’s it. It’s a fairly basic style selection, brown or blue long sleeve shirts with a BYU print in the front.
Now lets mention the cookie cutter. That’s my new name for Utah. People who are born into the religion are all molded into this perfect little cookie dough, then cut into shape and thrown into the oven. Everyone is cut the same and the people who don’t fit into the cookie cutter shape are cast out from the rest. Its quite sad, but true. If you’re a cookie with something missing or a misshaped head or not enough salt, then your regarded as evil! They toss you down to the bottom of the oven to burn.
But that’s another topic for another day. Just thought I would throw in my two bits while I could! Today has been a crazy one, with moving out of the BYU housing and all. So have a great day and try not to get thrown out of the oven, or cut into shape. Find yourself a happy medium.
