Fuel Efficiency Myth: Miles-Per-Gallon Is Misleding Says Duke University Study (Article 06/2008)

With a gas crisis getting worse or developing every few days, this Duke University study caught my attention. Which do you think is a higher efficiency upgrade?

10 mph. to 20 mph.

or

25 mph. to 50 mph.

You chose the second option, right? Well, you are incorrect. Surprised? I was too. The increase in efficiency is much greater for option one. Let this article explain the math. The Duke University researchers recommend we go from the miles-per-gallon standard to a gallons-per-mile standard to give the public better information about a vehicle's gas milage.
