The Pentagon has been so short on recruiting that it has allowed non-citizens the ability to enlist, albeit while still swearing "allegiance" to the flag and Constitution, for service with the opportunity for citizenship after the enlistment is done. Because of the situation on the border and the fact that the Mexican constitution has been amended to allow Mexicans who become citizens of the U.S. to retain Mexican citizenship, I would challenge the fealty of any servicemember in our Armed Forces from that country. I'm not saying that every enlistee is just there to gain free money and citizenship, but the program is set up to encourage those with less-than-honorable intentions to wear the uniform.
