FUN UFO Encounter Based on a True Story

"Turn down the music and get ready for bed" Coral's mom called through her open bedroom door. It was only 9:00 p.m. on a Friday night, "why must I go to bed so early" Coral wondered, after all, I am fourteen now? Sometimes Coral felt like her mom and step- father were so strict. Hesitantly Coral shut her door and walked over to her large boom box on the bedroom floor and turned it down. “Isn’t it ironic” she sang as she changed in to her pajamas. Currently Alanis Morisette was her all time favorite female singer. She new every word to each one of the songs on her new Alanis cassette tape titled “Jagged Little Pill.” She was proud of that. Coral’s mom knocked on the bedroom door “can I come in?” “Yes mom” Coral replied. “I just wanted to kiss you goodnight” her mom told her as she sat next to her daughter on the twin sized bed and gave her a big kiss on her fore head. “I love you,” she said as she got up to shut off the light “goodnight.” Once her mom had left the room Coral immediately got out of bed turned on her lamp and picked up her pen and notebook. She couldn’t help but notice how tattered her notebook was getting. She thought to herself maybe if I didn’t have so many heavy schoolbooks to carry in my book bag my notebook wouldn’t get so squished. Why do we have to do home work from every single class over the weekend? Coral was not about to do home work though, rather, she was going to write to her best friend Lizzy. The two girls loved to write notes back and forth to each other and add cute little pictures of flowers, suns, sea creatures and things. Coral began to doodle a little flower garden at the top of the page when she heard a knocking noise outside of her bedroom window. “What in the hell is that?” she thought. She was nearly too scared pull up the mini blind and look to see where the sound might be coming from. Coral had always been afraid of the dark and hated hearing strange sounds outside in the middle of the night. “Mom!” she yelled. “Please come here.” Knowing that her daughter was afraid of the dark her mom entered the room saying “what is it Coral, a boogey man?” “There is something making noise outside my window” Coral explained. “I’ll check” her mom replied as she pulled the string and opened the mini blind. “Barkley!” Coral’s mom exclaimed. “What in the heck are you doing?” Coral looked out the window with her mom to see the family dog laying beneath the window and next to the house where he was playing with a bone that knocked against the side of the house while he chewed on it. “Barkley” Coral called out to him “you scared me!” “Thanks mom for coming to check” Coral said as she once again hugged her mom and said “goodnight.”
Once Coral’s mom had gone back upstairs she picked her pen and notebook back up and finished the cute drawing of the flower garden and wrote Lizzy a note. When she was finished writing she put the pen and notebook back on her desk and hopped in to bed. She had decided to leave the lamp on. She could not stop tossing and turning. One minute she was too warm and the next minute she was too cold. She just could not yet fall asleep. “I’ve got to get back up” she thought and decided to sneak out in to the living room. She heard the knocking noise again but this time it was outside of the living room. She knelt on the couch that sat under the big bay window of the room. She peered out the window at her adorable dog as he chewed on his big stew bone right next to the house. While peering out the window Coral couldn’t help but notice how huge and bright the moon was tonight. “Cool,” she thought, “the moon is so bright.” Coral noticed the cows in the large pasture still grazing on grass and the horses with their heads hung down as they slept standing up. “It is so weird that horses and cows can sleep standing up” Coral thought to herself. She gazed back up and the moon. “Holycrap!” “What the hell is that?” she mouthed with her lips. Still staring up at the moon Coral was watching what appeared to be a jet-black shadow becoming larger and larger as it approached the middle of the moon at very high speeds. Once the shadow had seemed to stand still it looked very cylindrical and covered most of the moon. Coral starred straight up at the moonlit sky and kneeled there on the couch with her body in a frozen state. “What could that be” she wondered? But what happened next made up Coral’s mind as to what the object was. Suddenly the cylindrical shadow lit up throughout the middle section. The light coming from the object was very bright and had pink and purple hues. The light burst from square shapes that looked like tiny windows. The tiny windows starting moving clockwise and Coral realized the cylinder was starting to spin. It spun faster and faster until the lights were just a blur. Within maybe five seconds the object was gone. The strange jet-black, cylindrical, spinning and brightly lit thing was completely gone. The moon remained as bright as ever, a perfect circle lighting up the night as if nothing had just happened. It was a UFO.
Coral ran into her bedroom where she jumped into bed and hid beneath the covers. Her hands were sweaty and she was very scared. She tried as hard as she could to block the incident out of her thoughts and focus on sleeping. By one in the morning Coral found her self so tired that she could hardly keep her eyes open. Unknowingly she finally drifted off to sleep but awakened several times throughout the night. When she woke up late that morning she was still freaked out and tired.
Coral decided not to tell anyone what she had seen that night, after all, who would believe her? She thought if she were to tell someone they might laugh at her in disbelief.
