Is this the future we want for our country?

Is this the future we want for our country?

The Wall Street market crash, precipitated by the failed government bailouts of Freddie and Fannie, has surpassed the Iraq War/War on Terror as the most important talking point for political pundits and politicians alike. For me, it was always more important to question where the trillions of dollars the war on terror has already cost us and how the government was going to pay for it.

For anyone who understands the Federal Reserve and what it really does, the answer is simple. Our grandchildren and great-grandchildren are going to be saddled with the costs of this so-called war. Did we ask them if they wanted this debt? No, it never occurs to the government that they should seek permission from those effected most by their policies. You know, the constituents.

Is this the future we want for our country? Our government is bankrupt and has been bankrupt for decades. When was the last time the government only spent what it brought in as revenue? I don't know either, but I'd be willing to bet it was before 1913, before financial control of our country was given over to private banking families, many of which were not even U.S. citizens.

Our money is worthless. FDR took us off the gold standard. LBJ oversaw the elimination of precious metals from our coinage. Nixon took us off the silver standard. The only thing backing our paper money was the "full faith and credit of the United States". Translated into plain English, that means that you and I are responsible for paying now or later what the government feels like spending.

In order to hide their financial shenanigans, the Federal Reserve eliminated the M3 Money Report. This important report showed how many paper dollars are in circulation at any given time, since the amount gives people an idea of inflation and the health of the economy. Bush wanted it gone, so it was stopped. That was pre-9/11. With the military-industrial complex standing to benefit from unchecked government spending, we now have no idea of the health of our economy.

Well, now we know. With China, Russia, and a host of other foreign governments buying American taxpayer assets, which our own government has been offering for sale as quickly as assets could be identified, we no longer own our own country. For those of you still with jobs, many of those freeways, bridges, and roads on which you travel to work--maybe even the buildings in which you work--are owned completely by foreign governments.

Is this the future we want for our country? With the presidential elections coming up in less than two months, our stomachs should churn with the idea that either McCain/Palin or Obama/Biden are going to take over and "fix" the mess. Both parties are completely beholden by the special interests that got us into the mess that there won't be a real solution to anything until they are finished looting what's left of our country and economy.

Since the last real hope to fix the problems was deliberately shut out of consideration, by which I mean Ron Paul, there isn't going to be a happy ending to this story. What there is going to be is civil unrest, food riots, and ethnic warfare all of which will be answered by the only way our government knows how to answer, with force. There are detention camps set up all over the country (Google it) for people who are unwilling to accept their fate.

I am optimistic that the future is unwritten and that those who are willing to deny the future that the powers that be have decided for us will be able to prevail. The way things are now and where they are headed is not the future I want for my country. What say you?

You're Right, jdubhub-@lmorovan

But I get the feeling that those voting-decisions were made 'in that moment,' that the bills were worded to look like FREE MONEY FOR NOTHING! (without calling attention to the fact that 'free money' is WORTH nothing). The Old Boys' Club of the legislature were just being 'Old Boys,' not paying any attention to the fact that "no man is an island entirely to himself"---and the knowledge that the metaphor applies equally to all types of actions (financial AS WELL AS 'butterfly effectual'). We want a President who--though his mind be appropriately in the moment--also keeps an eye on the horizon ... you think you can, Jim? ---Buddha tells Uncle MythMan, "Flood the Open Eyes with the Truth, for as Long as You Exist!" @lmorovan-jdubhub--'The Buck''s Gotta Stop ~Somewhere~

Mixing my two favorite subjects: Some President (I forget which; one of the famous ones, I think) said that politicians' careers were built upon a lot of 'passing the buck,' but that--during his Presidency--the buck stopped there. Though the government had done plenty of 'unrighteous' things, that President was willing to 'take the blame' for the good as well as the bad (insofar as that meant it was 'his problem to fix.') Not wanting to put a heretical face on this, I can still say 'that's what God does'; though God did not "intend" the evil things upon the world, `E takes responsibility for them (insofar as that means they're`R problems to fix.) ---Buddha tells Uncle MythMan, "Flood the Open Eyes with the Truth, for as Long as You Exist!" Exactly; "NOBODY" FOR PRESIDENT! Jim Hubbard IS THAT NOBODY!

I'm informed--by a fellow Xombie, a member of the only source I can trust--that Bob Barr started-out AS a "Lobbyist" (one of the owners' "money-changers"), so the Georgia legislator is a 'no-go' in my book! But Jim---we don't know ANYTHING about him (other than what's written) ... yet ... ---Buddha tells Uncle MythMan, "Flood the Open Eyes with the Truth, for as Long as You Exist!" If I make stupid decisions, should I get to take money from you?

lmorovan, the individuals who ran Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and AIG into the ground are private individuals that made very poor business decisions. Therefore, it is up to those entities and those individuals to fix the problem themselves. The idea that you appear to have--that the American taxpayer pay for their stupidity--is both dangerous and morally unconscionable. If I run afoul of my creditors and rack of hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt, can I get free access to your bank account and garnish your paychecks for as long as I want without any input from you because I messed up? The answer, of course, is F--k No!. If you are going to answer "no" to my question, then why do you feel it is okay for the federal government to steal from the American taxpayer because those private companies made stupid decisions. It is also interesting that it was John McCain who, back in 1999, helped pass a bill in the Senate that overturned the Glass-Steagall act that regulated banking entities, which directly led to the economic mess where we find ourselves today. Furthermore, McCain has packed his advisory team with people who either ran or helped run Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and AIG. You really should research McCain's role in the Keating 5 scandal from the 1980's to see both his economic stupidity and how he stands to gain from his financial ties to these companies and individuals. The bailout is corporate welfare at best and highway robbery at worst. If you even bother to research it, check out section 8 of the bailout plan. If the bailout passes as written, then Treasury Secretary Henry Paulson gets to do whatever he wants with the $700 Billion and there is no administrative oversight or remedy through the courts. None. Even worse, there are no mechanisms in the bailout plan to prevent this from happening again. None. This is not the future I want for this country. DO YOU HAVE THE WRITE STUFF?

Interesting (or not) how you failed to mention the other option which would have cause hundreds of thousands of Americans to lose their homes. The cry would have been "the government could have bailed us out, but didn't". Either way, it would have been the government's fault. Right? LOL. Yes, I did eggs

I say that because if the Bush administration was really serious about fighting terror, and protecting this nation, they wouldn't continually throw more fuel on the fire. ↑ Grab this Headline Animator Free Chicken Wings

did you really say that.

Ron Paul

Ron Paul certainly would've gotten my vote. Of course, he had no chance in hell of getting the Republican nomination because he was too opposed to the Neocon agenda. Too many people have bought into it because all the fear propaganda designed to sell the phony war on terror has been very effective. Good article, jdubhub. You've pretty much hit the nail on the head. ↑ Grab this Headline Animator Free Chicken Wings
