Gays: The New Blacks

Gays: The New Blacks

Last week gay marriage was legalized in California. Today New York's Governor has given the okay for gay marriages from other states and countries to be recognized in New York state.

Now the conservative nutcases are out in full force to deny this very important equal right to gays and lesbians in our country. The Human Rights Campaign is reporting that the right-wing lawmakers have gathered a petition of one million signatures to put a gay marriage ban on the ballot in California in November.

Isn't this the same discrimination that reminds one of the former law where a black person could not marry a white person?

If the majority of white people wanted to keep that ban would that be "right"? When will our government just say "This is it! Gays should have the right to marry like any other person and it doesn't matter what the majority says."? If the majority says it's okay to kill someone, does that make it right?

This issue is just crazy. Equal rights for everyone. That's what this country should stand for. It's time for some strong individuals to say just that. Let's not let gays be the new blacks.

@Bbi-ade-MBc You Tie Yourself to Sin

In Left Behind 2: Tribulation Force, Kirk Cameron's character caught a man storming out of church. The man said something like 'I'm a good man; I don't need Jesus." To which Kirk replied, "Well, have you ever looked at a woman not your wife with lust after her body?"

"Well, yeah."

"Then you're an adulterer, not 'a good man'; have you ever stolen anything?"

"No."

"Not even a little thing?"

"Well, yeah of course."

"Then you're an adulterous robber! You're probably a liar as well! That's why you need Jesus!"

Such pagan reasoning (that 'Jesus Christ burned to offer a sweet fragrance to the Lord' or something) makes me sick, but there is a point; cause/effect-tendencies are sinful things, and habitual sins are the result of choices made over-and-over until they start to seem automatic. That's what Jesus Christ meant when He said 'all will become as children': we humans don't act according to the way we acted in the past, but rather the way that leads to all life.

Two & Two Have a Right to Equal Five, but Not on Our Books

Homosexual Marriage-Declaration: Why should we get behind that kind of a goal? First--let's ask ourselves--what purposes does marriage serve?

I think of two: 'ego-security' (i.e. that your social standing doesn't depend on "how comfortable people are around you," which somehow makes people comfortable around you) and 'well-set future' (i.e. that the your offspring have a steady pattern at their foundation).

The first purpose--as many heterosexual marriages have shown through divorce--isn't secured through official channels. And the second purpose isn't secured through official channels either.

The only thing marriage does for the government is increase the chances of obediant population---for which the government then rewards the parents by lightening the load. Does homosexual marriage increase the chance that the couple will find a volunteer of the opposite sex to conceive a child?

I'm thinking, no. I imagine that 'childlessness' is one of the perks of homosexual partnership.

That's Cool

No problem wHATUP, as long as the article isn't removed, I don't care. The article itself is not inappropriate in any way. Publius, did I tell you yet? I have stopped reading your comments. You are one of those people that needs to debate and appear smarter than everyone else. If we are to stay "buddies", we will have to agree to disagree and leave it at that.

mrbronco... I understand why

mrbronco... I understand why you are angry and why you are unable to use reason in this situation. Since you are a homosexual, this debate has the tendency to skew your judgment and automatically put you on the defensive. You are simply trying to defend your existence and what you perceive to be your "civil right." But understanding why you are so defensive does not allow me to excuse your refusal to use reason. There is no excuse for abandoning logic in any debate, including (and especially) ones where your lifestyle is the subject. That being said... I didn't want to have to do this to you, but you have now displayed your blatant stupidity to the point where we can call it nothing but that. You have not read and/or comprehended the article in which I laid out my argument. Yet you choose to make claims which are patently false about my character...claims that were discussed in said article. I have worked/work with homosexuals. I lived with one for four years. I have no problem with people being homosexual. The problem arises - like I said in the article which you did not read/understand - when this behavior is pushed into the public realm and the advocates of this behavioral deviancy demand that it is accepted by those who do not deviate from the norm. This is not about religion for me. It has NOTHING to do with it. My religious beliefs and inquiries begin and end with the creation of the universe. That is the extent of it. I am completely agnostic and have no desire to blindly and obediently live by a set of rules passed down by ancient tribes and/or societies. My morality is based on man's existence, the pursuit of our own self-interests, and the use of our mind (through the ability to reason) as our most vital asset. Your inability to argue with any logical merit attests to your own morality and your absence of a mind which would function on reason. "Publius, why are you so afraid of gays? I'm sure all Xombies have wondered this :)" This is exactly my point. Nothing I have said, no logical argument I can make, no amount of reason anyone can display will be able to penetrate your mind. You have closed off your brain from intelligent thought and nobody but yourself can alter that. This, more than anything else you can possibly do, is your "sin." This conversation has come to the same end as the one with kjhack. Congratulations. You are no different than any of the other "Xombies" who have proudly (it seems) made my list of Incompetents. *If you're interested in reading my articles, Click Here.

That's Where You're Wrong

I have a great relationship with God. I talk to Him all the time. And it's our relationship. Not for you to judge but, once again you did. He is proud of me. For being who He made me to be. For being honest. For standing up for what I am. For putting up with crap from the daily likes of people like you. Because, like me, He was misunderstood. And ended up on a cross for it. And I guess this is my cross. To have to live in a world with people like you who detest my love. But it's ok. I'll still talk to you when we are in heaven together and I will accept your apology when you see the truth. Because my God is not a hateful God (sorry Bobbi..no e) and, if we treat people with kindness, He will reward us. And this fag is nothing but a kind sweet person. So...take your judgement elsewhere....and I'll see you on the other side.

God and...

HOLY COW!!! I thought this was a discussion about opinions on gay marriage. What the...? Where did it become a forum on an individuals' relgious beleifs. Not that there's anything wrong with that.

The Truth Often Has That Effect

I pray daily for the forgiveness of my own sins and I do what I can. I am a sinner like every man and I struggle with the same snares as every man. Self Righteous I Am Not. Nor do I judge you. I would thank you for your prayers, but I detect a connotation of blatant sarcasm and assume the likely hood that you do not have a relationship with God. Hence your prayers would fall on deaf ears. If indeed you (or any reader) would like a relationship with God, you can at anytime verbally ask Christ (pray) to forgive your sins, ask His help in turning from your sins, and make His presence known in your life. He will oblige you if you seriously ask Him. Until the day you make that choice (if ever), I would just like to thank you for this opportunity to bear witness to you and the others who may read this. I have never witnessed the gospel on the internet and only once or twice in person with someone. It has been a great pleasure to do so.
