GEEKtime: Ubuntu desktop as NFS server
GEEKtime: Ubuntu desktop as NFS server
So I have this computer lab full of hardware and I'm SCPing content to 10 virtual machines day in day out. What a waste of time.
Being a former proud employee of Sun Microsystems (and you're welcome to your opinion, they were a great company to work for) I figured NFS would be the smart way to go.
But how do you find out how to set up an Ubuntu desktop as an NFS server? Until this morning I didn't know.
But Google is indeed your friend and by about lunchtime I was serving /home to all my VMs.
It's dead easy. Follow the instructions top to bottom and you're away. Server and (Debian based) client.

Once I figure out how to make the MS NFS Client work I'll post that too - but if anybody wants to tell me (please don't say I have to run PCNFSD) I'd love to hear! I can then hub off my Maxtor network drive to the server and use its USB hub for the little Dymo label printers! I love this stuff (GEEK!)
