"Genesis to Revolution" at The Refuge (OKC): The Word is the Milk-of-MagJesusia
posted June 4, 2008 - 12:52amBridgeway Church and Mars Hill (OKC) are participating in The Refuge (a former crackhouse now housing a mission), and this week their featuring a 24-hour-a-day reading of the Bible.
That is wonderful, don't get us wrong; but the people reading the Bible (other than Jude Deterhaus and a few others) are reading it as if it's science-homework rather than 'The Word of God.'
That's one of the possible reasons their original estimate of six days has been cut to three: as we told one of the leaders there, the readers are not reading each word as if it has meaning!
(Sure, we've commented on the human-ness of most of the Bible's writers; but 'the Words we attribute to God' are not merely the work of dictionary-writers!)
We suggested that readers ought to utter, 'The Word of The Lord' before- and after each chapter (much like the Holy Roman Catholic Church's lectors do after each scriptural reading).
When Jude delivers a reading, he has a different voice each for God, Jesus, angels/devils, holy-men, unsaved innocents and haughty Archons. But, in the pattern of the readers `e's heard thus far, `e needs do condense all those to tones of the same voice (or risk performing "heresy.")
But all-in-all, any work to fill the land with the word of God is good work (even if it is done like 'a weekend chore.') And if more readers like Jude decide to take on the 'crosses' that come with the awesome voices God gives them, then God will rise again!
