The US Government has partnered with a well-know phone company TracFone Wireless, to provide free phones and service to low-income and families in need. More than 1,000,000 low income families will benefit. The program gives a each recipient a free phone and a certain allotment of minutes per month. The participants have to option of purchasing more minutes if so desired. The free phone service is for a period of one year, to help ease the burden of phone bills during this recession.

You must apply to benefit: You can apply for the cell phone, if you are receiving Food Stamps, Aid to Dependent Children, Disability or if your family income falls below the national average. Also, displaced families and those living in areas of natural disaster.
